Three feed methods for wet ball mills

The feed end of the wet ball mill plays a very important role in the operation of the ball mill. The feed end consists of a feeder, a seal cap, a hollow shaft, a feed end cap, a feed port, and a gland. The function of each component is different, and the tightness of the feed end is tight, and it is also very important to ensure that it does not leak. The three feeding methods of the wet ball mill are: the spoon wheel feeding method, the screw feeding method and the chute feeding method. Then what's the difference between these three feeding methods? 1. Spoon wheel feeding method: The working principle of the spoon wheel feeding method is that the material is fed into the spoon wheel from the feeding end, and the wheels of the spoon wheel will lift the material into the conical sleeve and the material will then slip into the mill interior. This process requires that the difference between the inlet radius and the spoon wheel radius must be greater than the stacking height of the material, and at the same time, a seal is added at the annular gap. The purpose of this is to avoid material leakage from the gap between the feed hopper and the spoon wheel. 2. Screw feeding method: After the material slides down from the feed hopper to the scoop wheel, the rotating scoop wheel lifts the material up, and then the wheel directly falls into the spiral sleeve inside the hollow shaft. The inner spiral blade sends the material to the conical ball mill. To avoid overheating of the main bearing due to the hotter material and air flow, a certain gap is reserved between the hollow shaft and the screw sleeve to form an air insulation layer. 3. Chute feeding method: The material enters the tapered sleeve located in the hollow journal of the wet ball mill through a chute and slides into the ball mill along the rotating tube wall. The cross section of the chute is elliptical. The angle of inclination of the chute must be greater than the angle of repose of the material to ensure smooth flow of material. The feeding structure of the chute is simple, but it has the disadvantage of small feeding amount, which is suitable for the case where the diameter of the hollow journal is larger and shorter. The selection of the feeding method of the wet ball mill should be determined according to the structure and material properties of the ball mill. The correct decision will affect the subsequent output rate, and any specific details should be considered from a professional point of view.
