Many people think that calcining lime is just to fill the limestone into the lime kiln equipment and burn it. However, in order to produce better quality lime, we often have certain requirements for the limestone, as follows:
1. Limestone is required to have a high content of calcium carbonate, which is generally required to be above 97%.
2. Limestone's structural grains should be small, because limestones with small grains are not compact, and in the case of containing organic matter, the organic matter is porous and carbon dioxide is easy to separate, so it is easy to calcinate.
3. Fewer impurities, especially less harmful components, such as silica, magnesia, alumina, iron oxide, sulfur and phosphorus. If these ingredients are 1% in limestone, they will be 18% in calcined quicklime.
Therefore, the limestone we choose should meet the above requirements as much as possible, so that the calcined lime will meet the standards in terms of quality and output.
