Design principle of receiving hopper of belt conveyor

The belt conveyor receiving hopper is also called a chute, which is a key part of the belt conveyor. For the operation of the conveyor, the design of the hopper has a direct impact on the operating efficiency. The design of the receiving hopper has the following principles:
1. The principle of slipping
The principle of belt conveyor slipping refers to slowly sliding the conveyed material onto the corresponding material receiving belt to prevent the material from falling onto the material receiving belt by means of vertical direct impact. The principle and purpose of slipping is to prevent materials from impacting the belt, avoid the phenomenon of material splashing, and extend the life of the belt conveyor.
 
2. The principle that the direction of movement of the discharged material is the same as that of the receiving belt
There are two situations on the vertical plane where the center lines of two adjacent belts of the belt conveyor are located: one is overlapped, and the other is vertical. When the two center planes are perpendicular, the direction of the material discharged from the receiving hopper of the belt conveyor is also perpendicular to the direction of movement of the receiving belt. At this time, it is easy to cause the belt to run off and cause serious splashing. If the two center surfaces coincide, at this time, the direction of the material discharged from the hopper of the belt conveyor is the same as the conveying direction of the belt, so that material splashing and deviation are not prone to occur. However, in production practice, the center planes of the two belts are mostly vertical. Therefore, in this case, the hopper structure of the belt conveyor must be reasonably designed to change the direction of movement of the material during transmission to make it consistent with the direction of movement of the material-receiving conveyor belt.
 
3. The principle of abrasive materials
In order to enhance the wear resistance of the receiving hopper during use, not only the steel plate is used to make the receiving hopper, but also the wear-resistant liner is installed inside the receiving hopper. Even so, the material is hard, sharp and sharp during the conveying process of the equipment. And the continuous and uninterrupted operation every day shortens the service life of the receiving hopper. In order to make the hopper of the belt conveyor longer service life and more wear-resistant, it is necessary to properly design the shape and structure of the receiving hopper to ensure that the conveyed materials are hidden in the receiving hopper to a certain extent, so that the materials to be conveyed do not directly fall on On the wall of the receiving hopper, it directly falls on the material contained in the hopper. In this way, the material is not in direct contact with the receiving hopper, thereby reducing the friction to the receiving hopper. This is the principle of material abrasives.
 
4. The principle of low, not high
The transportation principle of the belt conveyor is to make the material fall smoothly from one belt to the other, and the two belts are connected end to end. The function of the belt conveyor by the hopper is to make the material fall accurately from the head of the previous belt to the center of the tail of the next belt. The drop between the head of the previous belt and the tail of the next belt should be minimized as much as possible. If the drop is too large, the following situations will occur:
(1) When the material is transferred between the two belts, it will have a greater impact on the receiving belt, which is not only easy to splash the material, but also increases the workload of the cleaning staff, thereby shortening the life of the belt.
(2) The large drop between the two belt conveyors increases the impact and wear on the receiving hopper, making the receiving hopper easy to wear through.
